Tears of Blood
Was just past midnight
The streets were
active that night.
People everywhere
A celebration
of summer’s beginning.
Her cries, they
were so faint.
A back alley
I found her lying
there all alone.
Was just past midnight
Her virginity
they did steal.
Stabbed several
times
They left her
to die as well.
Dark shadows covered
her well.
Her clothes torn
Her tears were
filled with blood.
Was just past midnight
I called for help
fearing it was too late.
Waited seems like
hours
I sat with her,
trying to comfort.
Her tears of blood,
I gently wiped away.
Help arrived
She had already
whispered her last wish.
Was just past midnight
They said she
was only sixteen.
No identification
No one would ever
miss her.
A last wish, I
did promise to honour.
Claimed her body
I buried her with
the respect she deserved.
Is just past midnight
The horror of
that night still remains.
A dozen beautiful
roses
Each month I place
upon her grave.
They entwine with
the beauty of sparkling stars.
Tonight a promise
fulfilled
Next to my roses,
her family matches them.
